Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton

When seventeen-year-old Ellie starts seeing reapers - monstrous creatures who devour humans and send their souls to Hell - she finds herself on the front lines of a supernatural war between archangels and the Fallen and faced with the possible destruction of her soul.

A mysterious boy named Will reveals she is the reincarnation of an ancient warrior, the only one capable of wielding swords of angelfire to fight the reapers, and he is an immortal sworn to protect her in battle. Now that Ellie's powers have been awakened, a powerful reaper called Bastian has come forward to challenge her. He has employed a fierce assassin to eliminate her - an assassin who has already killed her once.

While balancing her dwindling social life and reaper-hunting duties, she and Will discover Bastian is searching for a dormant creature believed to be a true soul reaper. Bastian plans to use this weapon to ignite the End of Days and to destroy Ellie's soul, ending her rebirth cycle forever. Now, she must face an army of Bastian's most frightening reapers, prevent the soul reaper from consuming her soul, and uncover the secrets of her past lives - including truths that may be too frightening to remember.

I was so excited to get my hands on this ARC! I’ve heard a few things about the book but the after reading the synopsis I couldn’t wait to read it.
The first thought that came into my mind when I started reading this was, “Its about time!!!” Finally, a sword wielding, fire holding kick whatever comes her way heroine. From the beginning pages I was captivated by Ellie. Courtney makes Ellie such a real character, any girl can relate to. Well, except for the swords conjuring part of course. She struggles with the typical teenager problem of discovering who she is, only to find out she is a reaper hunter. Her search for her own identity and understanding of whats going on in her life makes the story real. The crazy sword fights make the story fantastic! I’m a huge fan of a girl who can use a weapon to kick some serious butt! Then we meet Will. Oh. My. Word. Seriously girl crush moment right there. Gorgeous, sweet/annoying, dedicated to Ellie completely? Where can I get one of those??? The chemistry between the two is amazing. I love how they banter back and forth. I got to give Courtney serious kudos. Her dialogue is fun and entertaining. She brings her characters to life in an interesting way. To be honest, every character is great in this story. Ellie’s best friend Kate reminds me of my own. The rest of Ellie’s crew is fun and definitely entertaining. Courtney did a wonderful job at making this story seem real to those who know what high school is all about.
I absolutely loved this book! It definitely kept me from working on my own deadline. Shh, don’t tell anyone. This book hits the stores Feb. 15 and I vote for everyone going out and getting a copy! I cant wait to see what Courtney has in store for the rest of the trilogy!

Happy readings!!!
